Clay McGaughy, Watercolorist
Clay has been a professional artist since he graduated from the University of Texas in 1953. Since then, his work has been featured in numerous publications including Southwestern Art, Texas Game and Fish, True West, American Artist, Progressive Farmer, and Outdoor Life. In the early years, Clay's love of the outdoors, represented in his paintings, led to his work being exhibited at the prestigious Grand Central Gallery in New York with the Society of Animal Artists. In the 80's, he was commissioned by Pearl Brewery Company to create twenty-three paintings that were used as point-of-sale wall transparency signs. In 2002, he was awarded Ducks Unlimited "Texas Artist of the Year". Clay continues to paint almost every day. Clay says that learning to trust his instincts as an artist has proven to be one of his greatest achievements. Felder Gallery is proud to present his latest work with a special exhibit and reception.
